Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also sings. She won the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and also the first female recipient. Apart from receiving nine Grammy nominations, she was also the first Indian-born musician to perform in the live ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is one of India's most promising stars on the sitar. She is both the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing back and forth from London and New Delhi. When she was only 13 the first time she performed in New Delhi took place. Then she moved to Encinitas CA, where she received her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful career in recording and performing despite being young. Her father has accompanied her in many performances for some time. The year 1998 saw her released Anourag as her first solo record. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Anoushka Shakar's talents are not only limited to music. She also published Bapi the Love of My Life in 2002. The book is a biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. The year 2003 saw her appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as a Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka shankar is a rising superstar and her fame will continue to grow. Anoushka spent a lot of traveling between London and Delhi in her early years. Later, she moved to California to attend high school. She began learning music at age 9 and was a sitar player in celebration of the 75th anniversary the birth of her father in Delhi the following year. Her father traveled around the world with her and she gained many experiences. As she was teenagers, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. As a tribute to her status as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
